HOW TO APPLY FOR ADMISSION
An online application or a fully completed application form 2023 and recently certified (certification may not be not older than one year) copies of your original identity document and (National) Senior Certificate and/or highest academic results, as well as the administration fee, must reach TUT before the specified closing dates. - If you cannot apply online, you can request a manual application form from the TUT’s Contact Centre telephonically on 0861102421 (option 1) or by email to General@tut.ac.za or you can download it on the Website www.tut.ac.za and click on Enrolment.
- Late applications will be considered only if there is space available in the programmes concerned. TUT can accommodate only a limited number of students per programme.

Be sure to bear in mind the following; implementation guidance
NOTE: You’ll need to write an NBT exam for most schools, which will assess your academic readiness. Make sure you verify with the institution that you are applying for whether you will need an NBT result for your application or not. Your NBT results are 3 years accurate and you only have to write the test once if you apply to more than one institution
TUT Closing dates; Ensure that you know the exact closing dates for the organizations that you want to apply for. To prevent any delays search the institution’s closing dates first before applying.
- You have to take note that you will need an email address when you apply online or in hard copy
- Also, some of the universities don’t allow emails from the following systems: Hotmail, Webmail, Email, Outlook and Live. Creating and using a Gmail address is advisable for the application.
Download / Posting / Courier: Take this into account as the application process begins; some colleges use an online application framework, while others allow only hard copies. Some are providing both.
Your Exam Results: Grade 11 marks are very necessary to apply. Some universities are permitted to use the Matric June Marks to apply. Keep it on hand, then.
Financial Assistance: But no financial assistance can be a hassle to pursue your education. If the income of your family falls below a certain amount, then you may apply. You would be asked to fill out a form separately and have a payslip proof from your parent or guardian.

Present Year’s Activity: If you’re in Matric, the university wants your school marks and the specifics of your school activity.
Supporting Documents; A Verified Copy of Your ID – Parent/guardian ID – Test Results – Residential Evidence – Most recent payslip. Send only a copy of the photograph not the original. If you’ve taken a gap year they’ll need specifics of travel or jobs.
Accurate information: make sure the data are reviewed very carefully before you apply online. If you have a hard copy printed out, please use a pencil before filling it with blue or black ink.
Pay the Application Fee: make sure of the amount required, EFT it or pay it to the bank. Never post charges. Send proof of payment to the University if necessary.
Signing the Declaration: Read the document very carefully to make sure that all the information is accurate to right. The slightest error you make will stop you from being admitted; you need to sign it AND the parent/guard.
Acceptance: Formal email or letter will be sent to notify you of your acceptance. This is why we mentioned above that you have an email address that works. Recall continuing hard work and making the full initial payment by the closing date.

The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) is a program run by the South African government to assist students in paying for their education. The Financial Aid Directorate’s major function and mandate are to administer and manage various student support alternatives for eligible applicants in accordance with the Financial Scheme’s particular interests. Its goal is to ensure that all Tshwane University of Technology campuses have access to these monies for qualified students. NSFAS seek to distribute funds into an open and fair method of evaluation and appraisal. Every year, The South African government offer financial aid through the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) to nearly Thirty Thousand (30 000) TUT students with more than R1.4 billion. If you’re not one of them, you can do whatever it takes to get financial assistance.

NSFAS is a public entity under the Department of Higher Education and Training. NSFAS provides financial help through study bursaries to deserving students at TVET colleges and public universities. The funding covers the cost of registration, tuition as well as allowances for learning material, food, personal care, transport or accommodation.
