Teaching Course at the Tshwane University of Technology Duration

The teaching course offered at the Tshwane University of Technology is a comprehensive four-year undergraduate degree on a full-time basis. The degree prepares teachers who qualify to teach at both Senior Phases, and Further Education and Training (FET) bands.

Tshwane University of Technology Teaching Courses Admission Requirements

To be admitted a candidate should meet any of the following requirements:

  • National Senior Certificate (NSC) with a Bachelor and an average of 36%, with a minimum percentage of 50% in English.
  • Old Senior Certificate (Matric) with exemption and an average symbol D (Standard Grade) or E (High Grade) in English.

No person may be registered as a student in a program of TUT unless he or she has complied with the following

General admission requirements for TUT

  • A pass mark in English at Senior Certificate level (minimum additional language; certain programs may require first or home language status)
  • Each course has its specific admission requirements.
  • Prospective students should note that the admission requirements of individual programs could change from year to year.
  • For some programs, students will be required to write an admission test, which will determine whether they will be admitted to the program, or whether it will be recommended to them that they enroll in a relevant foundation course.

​​Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy?

  • All learners are required to take one of the two subjects for NSC-G purposes. Mathematics is relevant to programs that require prior knowledge of Mathematics.
  • It is compulsory for the Faculty of Science, the Faculty of Engineering and the Built Environment, and the Faculty of Information and Communication Technology (ICT)
  •  Mathematical Literacy is optional for the Faculty of the Arts.
  •  The following faculties require any one of the two: Management Sciences, Economics and Finance, and Humanities.

  • To begin the application process at TUT, please click here.
  • On the top right corner of the screen, click ‘Apply Now.’
  • Choose whether or not you have a student number (If this is your first time applying you will not have a student number yet)
  • Choose whether you are returning to finish an application.
  • Choose whether or not you have a Qualification. Token Specific (this token was only given to specific students to show them a pre-defined list of qualifications)
  • To the consent form, click ‘I Accept.’
