A Learnership is an outcomes-based training system that allows for the certification of a candidate`s experience through the recognition of prior learning. All the above components are articulated between compatible qualifications. A learnership programme steers the learner to success through the dedication of qualified and accredited Facilitators and Assessors using accredited facilities (workshops) and training material. Assessment methods ensure that individual needs are met and feedback reports lead to learner support and hands-on mentorship. A large part of the learnership includes practical workshop/workplace training that is logged (log book) as experience towards a trade. Upon the successful completion of a level, based on a quality assurance report from the internal and external moderator, a national qualification is awarded by the relevant SETA.

Who Can Apply to Tshwane South TVET College Learnerships And How?

Learnerships are available to all young, unemployed and school leavers as well as to employees sponsored by companies supporting their employees to further their qualifications. In most cases, companies will act as host employers for groups sourced by themselves in a trade of their choice. A big advantage of training on unit standard-based courses is that it offers the opportunity to do accredited short-skill courses by doing individual unit standards or to cluster unit standards together in a compatible structured group. If a learner is successful in these courses, these unit standards will be portable to various future studies or qualifications. Interim statements of results will be issued to learners to enhance job opportunities whilst a full qualification certificate in each of the three levels will set the stage for a successful career path.
